Handmade earthenware spinning top with a design from a plate in the Ottoman Collection, Historical Museum of Crete. Hand painted, terracotta, fired at 1000 °C.

Kid’s game based on the gyroscopic transition phenomenon. It was particularly widespread in antiquity called “strobos”. The majority of the spinners were ceramic, but there were also wooden ones that spun with the unwinding of a string. In later years, other materials were also used for their manufacture, such as metal and plastic. In general, as a spinner can be used anything that has the ability to rotate around its axis by means of the fingers.
